Hello
I try to install IRAF (the last version from your distribution), and
because of our configiration (AFS file system) we would like to have the
includes files (iraf.h) installed on /usr/local/include and not on
local /usr/include.
Is a way to do this easily? Could you prvide the distribution with this
option?
Other question - do you provide the IRAF for x86_64 Redhat version?regards,Woj--

[/quote:9ea791027b]The /usr/include/iraf.h file is hardwired since there needs to ge a known location to find basic environment information in the case where this isn't supplied by the user's environment (e.g. when iraf networking connects to a remote machine the kernel server always has a fixed place to look for local install information). In cases where users don't have root permission or want to install a private IRAF we recommend they simply define the needed environment and the system will ignore the <iraf.h> file. The 'needed environment' in this case are the $iraf, $host and $tmp variables that are normally defined in <iraf.h> as something like:[code:1:9ea791027b]
/* ### Start of run time definitions */
#define HOST "/iraf/iraf/unix/"
#define IRAF "/iraf/iraf/"
#define TMP "/tmp/"
/* ### End of run time definitions */
[/code:1:9ea791027b]
[quote:9ea791027b] Could you provide the distribution with this option?[/quote:9ea791027b]I'll add it to the list of features for the next release. Certainly adding /usr/local/include as another hardwired fallback is easy, some sort of environment override might also be desireable.[quote:9ea791027b]Other question - do you provide the IRAF for x86_64 Redhat version? [/quote:9ea791027b]A 64-bit IRAF is in the planning stages, for now you'll need to use the pre-built 32-bit binaries (for external packages as well). Compilation is not supported on 64-bit platforms at this time.Cheers,
-Mike
