When i display a long image header (maybe about 100 or more lines), iraf only displays the last, let's say, 80 lines, so I don't see the top of the header when I scroll up. I solved the problem by writing the header into a file and viewing that with an editor by 'imhead x.fits l+ > header.txt'
But there has to be a way to fix that, right?
I'm using the ecl in an xgterm.

IMHEAD outputs all the lines in a header and doesn't do any terminal interaction. If you lose lines scrolling up, it's because the number of lines being saved by your terminal is too small. Try something like[code:1:38bf92138f]% xterm -sl 1024[/code:1:38bf92138f]when starting a XTerm to save 1024 lines for scrolling (works for XGTerm as well). The default value is something like 64 but you can reset the 'saveLines' resource for xterm/xgterm to make a more permanent change.-Mike

You use the '-sl' option when starting the xgterm window from the unix command line, or if you start these automatically from a .xinitrc file. You can set the X resource 'saveLines' a number of places depending on your X setup, a line such as [code:1:b83a818ef7]*VT100*saveLines: 1024[/code:1:b83a818ef7]in your .Xdefaults file.-Mike
