I have tried to install V2.13B2 on a SUSE10.1 machine. I created the directory structure and unpacked the as.pcix.gen, ib.rhux.x86, nb.rhux.x86 where required (as in /iraf/iraf, ib in /iraf/irafbin/bin.suse and nb in /iraf/irafbin/noao.bin.suse). When running the install script, I have the following error:Checking iraf file permissions ... foreach: no matchwhich corresponds, I think, to line 1720 of the script. The problem is, apparently, that some of the files in MODFILES do not exist. There is a solution to this problem, or am I missing something? Thanks,
Boris

The v2.13b2 system doesn't contain the HSI binaries (MKPKG, XC, etc) in the iraf$unix/bin.suse directory by default. To fix this, copy (do not 'mv') the contents of iraf$unix/bin.redhat to iraf$unix/bin.suse and re-run the install script. Write back if you still have problems.-Mike

The installation script now runs without any problems. In order to run iraf I also had to modify the ecl.csh script in order to always define the os_mach variable. Now all seems to go smoothly.

I encountered such problems during the installation on the Gentoo Linux 2006.1. That decision found themselves easily. I tunned IRAF within 1.5 months after this and i have an excellent working system now...
Except for one problem, a description of which is here to be off-topic..
