Hi,
I'm having this problem: :
If I open an imagem with ds9 I see all the information in the fitsheader, if I use Iraf to open the same image in ds9 when I look into the header there is only the first lines ...SIMPLE = T / Fits Standard
BITPIX = 8 / Bits per pixel
NAXIS = 2 / Number of axes
NAXIS1 = 1530 / Axis Length
NAXIS2 = 1020 / Axis Length If I use the CL comand IMHEADER I get this ">>>"It seams iraf can't see the header info.
I wrote with ccdhedit OBSERVAT and OBJECT into the fitsheader, I confirmed I succeded, but Iraf doesn't show in ds9 or in CL.I hope you can help.Happy New YearGregorio

There are two issues here: The '>>>' is a continuation prompt in the CL, e.g. you did something like[code:1:32d82e8554]cl> imhead ("dev$pix", long+,
>>>instead ofcl> imhead dev$pix long+ or
cl> imhead ("dev$pix",long+)
[/code:1:32d82e8554]where the closing paren is missing and you have a comma at the end. There may be other reasons for the prompt, e.g. the terminal got corrupted somehow.As for the DS9 header: When you display from IRAF what gets sent is the full path to the file. XImtool uses this path to actually open the image as though you had displayed it in standalone mode, but DS9 didn't implement that part and so it creates a dummy header from the image size. Note that when displayed in this way you also only see z1/z2 scaled pixel values and no WCS information. You can use IMEXAM (with 'wcs=world') for this last issue, otherwise you'll need to use IMHEAD to see the header from IRAF or else load the image in DS9 in standalone mode until DS9 gets fixed.Hope this helps,
-Mike
