I'm trying to compile some software that links against some IRAF libraries, but I've hit a snag since the /iraf/iraf/unix/bin.macosx/libcompat.a library doesn't seem to exist like it does on, for example, my redhat machine.Does anyone using a mac have this file or is there an easy way to regenerate it?

Libcompat.a is not needed under OSX and so does not exist. Simply remove the reference to it from the makefile. Under redhat/linux it is needed to support changes made in various versions of gcc/glibc.Cheers,
