I am having trouble fitting stars using the allstar task. It fits most of the stars but a large number are being rejected with the error message keyword "Merged" or "Singular". What exactly does this mean?-rachel

Hopefully you'll get advice about which parameters to tweak to avoid this from somebody who knows more about the task, but a 'singlular' solution means a unique solution couldn't be found when solving the matrix, a 'merged' error means that a "fainter star < 0.37 * fwhmpsf from a brighter star in the group".I'd also recommend the DAOPHOT user's guide in the docs link on the banner bar.
