[b:243ab988c4]Subject: [/b:243ab988c4][b:243ab988c4]CCDSEC and DATASEC what is the problem ?[/b:243ab988c4]
Hi Frank,
Just a rapid question and (hopefully several YES or NO answers).
I am Astronome Support at the ING (La Palma) and try to do a AF2/WYFFOS multi-fiber pipeline software using
IRAF and DOFIBER packages.
I have an anoying and "stupid" problem with the "usual" DATASEC and CCDSEC error ... I start to get mad about this ;-)
The AF2/WYFFOS FITS headers does not contains either keywords ... but has 2727 lines (160 fibers) !!
The CCDPROC does not complains when the CCD is NOT binned CCDSUM = '1 1' ... BUT always fails when binned 2x2
which is the mostly used SETUP.
I tried to put the 2 keywords in the headers, put and remove them ... try various values ... tried to put bin 1x1 and decrease
the size of the CCD ....
I think I tried everything ... same answer "Size of DATASEC and CCDSEC do not agree "
These are the only section found in the header ... mostly at the end of the 2727 lines !!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WINSEC1 = '[1:4300,1:4200], enabled ' / Readout window 1 (d-space)
WINSEC2 = '[0:0,0:0], disabled ' / Readout window 2 (d-space)
WINSEC3 = '[0:0,0:0], disabled ' / Readout window 3 (d-space)
WINSEC4 = '[0:0,0:0], disabled ' / Readout window 4 (d-space)
BIASSEC = '[5:1075,2053:2095] ' / Bias pixels.
TRIMSEC = '[27:1051,1:2050] ' / Illuminated pixels.
RTDATSEC= '[1:2150,1:2100] ' / Location in d-space for RTD.
The detector is made from 2 CCDs
X size of digitised area in pixels (each ccd) 2154
Y size of digitised area in pixels (each ccd) 4200
X size of useful imaging area ( each ccd ) 2048
Y size of useful imaging area ( each ccd ) 4100
X start of useful imaging area ( each ccd ) 53
When windowing the mosaic is considered a single large chip measuring 4308 x 4200 pixels.
Is this a problem ? ... we usually window it to a 4300x4200 window.
Is the header totally NON-standard ? but why this works without binning ?
Is the header TOO long ?
Any clue to solve this ?
I would greatly appreciate because I already spent many hours on the bugs reports about this and no result at all.
deleting CCDSEC does not work ...
and HEDITing
CCDSEC = '[1:2150,1:2100]'
DATASEC = '[1:2150,1:2100]'
does not seems to do anything.
Is my IRAF setup guilty (but this happens on a MAC OX, a LINUX or a SUN).
Many thanks for your help,
Pierre Leisy

Sorry Frank,
just forget about the problem ... I fixed it ...
Finally I found in more GOOGLE hints ;-)
That CCDSEC is "UNBINNED" ... so DATASEC=[1:2100,1:2100] and CCDSEC=[1:4300,1:4200] is working ;-)
Maybe you should put it in your examples ... this will solve many "BINNED" problems ;-)
Cheers,
Pierre
