HI I'm trying to install a patch to support ZPN projection in IRAF which
requires me to do a "mkpkg" in the noao$ directory (the patch instructions
are at http://apm15.ast.cam.ac.uk/wfcam/iraf_zpn_patch_doc). However,
mkpkg throws up a lot of errors about missing files. I've tried the same
command on a fresh IRAF system (without applying the patch) and still get
the same errors. I've attached a screen dump to this mail (text format).
Is this a bug? I would appreciate any help.Many Thanks

You need to compile the NOAO package with mkpkg -p noao -p tablesin order to pick up the package environments that will fix the missing files (i.e. -p noao for smw/shdr.h and -p tables for tbset.h).I wasnt' aware of this patch, perhaps we can work it into the system for the future.-Mike

I have recently installed the ZPN patch in the MWCS following the instructions from the CambridgeUK people (http://apm15.ast.cam.ac.uk/wfcam/iraf_zpn_patch_doc).
I have rebuilt MSCRED, and the main packages as well (guessing that the new ZPN driver is used by imcoords etc...). Mscexamine seems to work (at least it returns world coords), while imexamine does not (it does not crash anymore with the WFCAM headers, but the WCS is not recognized). My question(s) to IRAF gurus:
which packages/tasks will actually use the new MSCW driver ?
Is the addition of a new driver sufficient to provide support to ZPN in MSCRED and other packages/tasks ? I suppose several tasks may have hard-coded support for TAN/TNX only. Many thanks,

Hard-coded support is pretty rare in the packages we produce, certainly MSCRED will support whatever the core IRAF system supports.-Mike
