Dear Frank,
I'm back to you one more. I may be in Tucson the second part on December. I would really like to meet you and discuss some Iraf issues. I may arrive on December 16th, which is Friday. I know that people will be away for Christmas holidays. Would you still be around Tucson the following week of my arrival (it means from december 19)? I have a particular issue and I'm sure that it can be done with Iraf. I have an image taken from my camera (see the attached file). The image is 1360x1036 pixels. It covers 16 degreees of the sky. I can display it with Iraf of course. I would like, if I click on one star, to display information about this star given by one catalog (USNO2 or Sky2000, any catalog available in Iraf). Information about this star I would like to get could be: magnitude (B magnitude or V magnitude, or any color terms acording to the catalog used, centroid positions). I would like to do differential photometry. I would like all these data to be written in a file. Could you please let me know your availability after december 18th?
Thanks,
Jean-Baptiste

Dear Jean-Baptiste,
Yes I shall be in my office during that time. I did not receive a file but I would prefer that you place a data file in our anonymous ftp account at iraf.noao.edu in the pub subdirectory and let me know by email that you transfered it. I don't think IRAF is the best tool for what you want to do. What you should look at is called Aladin. You might need to use IRAF to first get the WCS properly defined. Actually if you also want to do instrumental photometery that would be done in IRAF.
Yours,
Frank
