I downloaded IRAF and tried to install it on my SuSe linux 9.1. My =
system didn't recognize the installation file for the PC-IRAF =
installation and the PC-IRAF Installation Guide doesn't not tell me how =
to run things.How much does a CD-ROM cost?Eric Newberry

you get some sort of error message (what?)? What command were you doing
when you got the error? Are you sure all three distribution files were
downloaded correctly? By "run things" do you mean starting up IRAF,
the last page of the install guide has a complete example with all the
commands you'll use to install the system.
If you want to try something new, there is an auto-installer
available at ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/nvoss/iraf_setup.cshJust download and execute as 'root'. It will download and unpack all the
pieces you need as well as STSDAS/TABLES, DS9 and XGterm. This hasn't
been well-tested under SuSE and assumes you don't have iraf on your
