Subject: "lib" problemsMike,I think something got screwed up during the "Network Chaos" of a couple of
days ago.I tried compiling a program and got the following error messages:grasplib$libttools.a exists
Library gpclamp.a is up to date
Object x_gpclamp.o is up to date
xc -/Bstatic -p grasp -p tables x_gpclamp.o gpclamp.a /home/toner/iraf/src/numer
ic/numeric.a -lxtools -lgrutil -o xx_gpclamp.e
ld: fatal: file /iraf/iraf/bin.sparc/libxtools.a: unknown file type
ld: fatal: file /shared/iraf/extern/grasp/bin.sparc/libgrutil.a: unknown file ty
pe
ld: fatal: file /iraf/iraf/bin.sparc/libmain.o: unknown file type
ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to T_xx_gpclamp.e
edsym: cannot open file xx_gpclamp.e
Warning, mkpkg line 3: module `relink' not found or returned error
Is this something that you can fix, or does Grandi need to do something?Cliff>From fitz Wed May 21 07:25:47 2003

Subject: Re: "lib" problemsHi Cliff,
Sorry for the delay, I was travelling. The messages mean the .o and
.a files in the source tree are for the wrong architecture, i.e. you're
compiling on Solaris but the package is configured for SunOS or Linux.
Make sure the package architecture matches the machine and reset if necessary,
you can also use the 'file' command to find out specifically what the binary
is for (e.g. "file x_gpclamp.o") in case it was built incorrectly. Hope
this helps.Cheers,
-Mike

Cc: fitz, sgrandiCliff,
Your .login file on humu sources your .cshrc file and near the end
sets the IRAFARCH to 'ssun'. However, yourr .cshrc file explicitly sets
it to 'sparc' which is important because if you're compiling from inside
the CL the environment for MKPKG/XC comes only from the .cshrc file (since
these are declared as foreign tasks).
This shouldn't have anything to do with the Net Chaos. Perhaps you
were just compiling at the host level earlier?Cheers,
-MikeP.S. Steve, I've reset the iraf passwd on humu to the usual one we use.>From toner@noao.edu Thu May 22 16:15:32 2003
