Hello;
Under some special combination of existent header keywords
and new added ones, it is possible that the FITS kernel miscount the
number of cards in the internal header and at the time of writing
out to disk, it could overwrite the pixel area giving the truncation
error message. The FITS kernel writes out blocks of 36 cards (2880 bytes). In this
particular case if the number of cards you are adding is greater than the
number of blank cards before the END card you could overwrite the
pixel area since the FK fails to expand the header area before writing
the header. A way around this problem is to make a copy of the image expanding
the header at the same time with the "padline" section parameter as in: im> imcopy smallheader.fits betterheader.fits[padline\=30]assuming that you have less than 30 cards of space before the END card. You can use the fitsutil/fxheader task to see the fits header
listing: fi> fxhe smalheader.fits long+ count+ Now you can use the 'hedit' to add the keywords into the betterheader
file. Is it possible to have a copy of this file? If so please put it in
iraf.noao.edu/pub. If it is too big , the header listing would suffice: fi> fxheader smallheader.fits long+ > sm.outThanks a lotNelson Zarate
