Hello Jonathan,>My name is Jonathan Hargis, from Eastern College. I believe you have
>had contact from Josh Lake and Dave Bradstreet from here, about DAOPHOT
>stuff. I have a different question.>We just reinstalled IRAF to account for the recent Y2K stuff, and began

>this? It sounds as though DATE-OBS is not being written into the header of
your images correctly... After January 1, 2000 the DATE-OBS keyword needs
to be in the formCCYY-MM-DD[Thh:mm:ss[.sss...]]to avoid ambiguity. See the following link for more about thishttp://www.cv.nrao.edu/fits/documents/proposals/year2000.txtSo the question is what software is writing this keyword? If it is IRAF
(i.e. IRAF is not just accepting the keyword but actually writing it) let
us know in more detail what task is doing this and we will try and fix
it. If it is data acquistion software that is doing this it needs to be
patched to write the new standard. In any case you will need to fix
the format of DATE-OBS in your existing image headers to comply with the
new standard. IRAF should understand both the old and the new format for
years < 2000.0.Write back if you have more questions or I have misunderstood your mail.
Regards,
Lindsey Davis
