Dear IRAF,Two quick questions. 1) How do I specify the dispersion direction for apedit? Right now, it
is doing a cut parallel to the dispersion instead of across it....2) Is there a script or a command to change all the i_pixfile designations
to point to the present working directory while preserving the file name
itself? Is it possible to set a switch which will prevent IRAF from
using a full directory address in i_pixfile, and instead point automatically
to the working directory whatever that is?Thanks, Fred Hamann

Set the APEXTRACT 'dispaxis' package parameter, e.g. cl> epar apextract # or
cl> apextract.dispaxis=1> 2) Is there a script or a command to change all the i_pixfile designations

The keep the pixels in the same directory as the header file you can
reset your 'imdir' to be "HDR$" (or "HDR$pixels/", trailing '/' required, to
put it in a subdirectory of the header that will be created). To edit
existing images we usually recommend and HSELECT/HEDIT script something like cl> hselect *.imh $I,pixfile yes > filin
.... [do a global edit to filin and edit in the new pixel HDR$]
cl> list="filin"
cl> {
while(fscan(list,s1,s2) != EOF)
hedit(s1,"pixfile",s2,verify-)
}Hope this helps, let us know if you still have questions.Cheers,
