Hello,I have a question on making 3d plots in iraf -- I have three columns of
data points that I want to form an image with. Is there an easy way to do
this in iraf?Thanks,

Hi Caryn,
If your data covers every pixel in an array, or if you can convert
the list so it does, then you can use the RTEXTIMAGE task to produce an
image from the pixel values (I'm assuming your list is (x,y,z)). The
FIELDS task can be used to pull out column three from your list. If this
is an irregularly spaced set of points then you may want to have a look at
the SURFIT task in the UTILITIES package to fit an image to the points and
create an image from that.
Alternatively, you can use the MKPATTERN task in the ARTDATA package
to create a blank image with a constant (zero?) value then write a small
script which loops over your list and calls PROTO.EPIX to edit individual
pixels in the list. Hope this helps, write back if you still have questions.Regards,
