Hi,
not sure this is the right place for my comment, but I hope
you can forward it accordingly. Here we go:
Using IRAF would be a great deal easier if it was possible
to do command-line editing in the same way as in a terminal
window - i.e. using cursor keys without having to invoke
ehist all the time. Can't you just put IRAF into ehist mode
by default?

Subject: Re: IRAF Homepage CommentsHi Sebastian,
The command-line editing you decribe is a tcsh feature, but I agree
it would be handy. Eric Mandel whose been developing the SAORD package
has already implemented this in his version of the CL called NCL. If you're
interested have a look at the web page http://hea-www.harvard.edu/RD/ or
you can download it from sao-ftp.harvard.edu in the pub/rd directory.Regards,
Mike Fitzpatrick
