Just wanted to let you know that we managed to solve
this little mystery - an artifact of me trying to retain some
of my "previous life" in this new enviornment. Turns out that
the iraf "hosts" file still retained the node name "companion" as
an alias for my old HEAD node. (These were all purged six weeks
ago from the unix tables). So there was confusion as to
what
companio!dev$
was referencing (at least in the hashbang/cl mode) Sorry for the diversion - I should now be able to happily
run all my hashbang/cl scripts! Cheers,
