Firstly, why are you rebuilding from the sources? If it's to
install the FITS kernel then we have shared libraries available you
can just plug in. We don't usually recommend this because of problems
that can crop up (e.g. forgetting to reset the architecture), but if you
need to do it an have problems let us know.
To answer your specific question: IRAF currently requires the
TABLES package in order to build several of the DAOPHOT tasks. This should
be included automatically by the mkpkg command but you must have it installed
first.> In addition, one of the site users has problem building his own stuff

What kinds of problems? What machine/OS an compiler version? Note
that for SunOS systems only the SUNPro V1 compilers are supported, and GCC
is not supported on SunOS or Solaris. If you could send me an error message
