 "orphan" pixel files

Hi. I thought I'd read this in an IRAF newsletter, but now I can't find
it. We have several users who've managed to create orphan .pix files by
inadvertently deleting the .imh files. This is easier than it sounds,
since IMFORT, which creates a good number of our images at present,
apparently doesn't protect the .imh files. In any event, has anyone come
up with a more-or-less standard procedure for finding these and deleting
them? All of our users have IMDIR set to $HOME/imdir at the Unix level.Steve

Hi Steve,
We've got some utilities like this in our NLOCAL package, I've packaged
them up in the shar file "pixfix" in our /pub directory. The PIXHEADER
task can be used to scan for orphan pix files. Let me know if you have
trouble with the tasks or if I answered the wrong question.Cheers,
-Mike
