we are running NP2.0 version C, which is, i believe, the newest. we called
SUN about this and they mailed us C claiming it would solve the problem...>helps the problem somewhat (it makes the streaks in image hardcopies less

not true. what i discovered is that if you select the output file type to
raster, and setenv R_DISPOSE "rasfilter8to1 | lpr -PSPARCprinter -s %s"(for example), the image comes out perfect, WITHOUT the lines. this is the
technique we will use here at CTIO until a better fix comes along. the downside
is that this technique isn't supported in SAOimage (or is it?), clearly, the
hack required to SAOimage will be relatively trivial, since it already supports
the R_DISPOSE environment variable.you may want to propagate this work around to your customers...cheers,

Subject: Re: image dumps on SPARCprintersHi Jim,
Thanks for your suggestion, this will certainly be passed out to IMTOOL
users. Unfortunately, SAOimage doesn't support raster file output. You're
right that the change is trivial but since we plan to start an Ximtool shortly
it's probably not worth changing at this point unless we hear more complaints
from users. If you make the change locally I'd appreciate a diff of the
source so we can integrate it here. Cheers,
-Mike
