Is anyone actively working on '386 IRAF using SCO UNIX, BSD UNIX,
and/or Linux (which some people suggest might be an easy port)? Thanks, AJ

Hi AJ,
There is currently a port attempt under way in India to an Intel 860
running something call LANDMARK, and I know if two earlier attempts to 386/486
machines, one I believe was running SCO Unix. So far neither of these has
produced a working IRAF (or if it did they didn't bother to tell us), and
even "easy ports" run into trouble when being done by people not familiar
with the innards of IRAF. We haven't ruled out a 386/486 port ourselves in
the future, but there are no immediate plans for one right now. Let us know
if you have any other questions.Regards,
Mike Fitzpatrick
