AJ, Steve describes the situation with the 386i very well. I would add
that $3500 is indeed a very good price. You would definitely want to add
more memory but 1 Mb SIMMs for the 386i are currently quite cheap, i.e.,
$400 for an extra 8 Mb. The main drawback to this machine is speed. Some
compute bound things run faster than a 3/60 but screen drawing can be
annoyingly slow. The slow screen redraws are probably the single greatest
drawback of the 386i, although the file system is pretty slow too. It is
usable though. Depending upon your application this may or may not be a
problem, and the price is certainly very good, especially considering that
includes a 327 Mb disk. Doug
