Hi, I apologise in advance if this is a silly question.
I downloaded the file "alpha_lyr_stis_008.fits" from https://aeon.stsci.edu/ssb/trac/astrolib/browser/trunk/pysynphot/data/generic/alpha_lyr_stis_008.fits?rev=4677
I want to see the spectra on said file, although when I try to splot it I get the message
ERROR: MWCS: dimension mismatch (mw_open)
I googled the error and it said that this could be due to a wrong setting of the WCSDIM keyword, although this image does not have said keyword. The image also seems to not have multiple extensions.
I'll appreciate if you could tell me what I am doing wrong.
Cheers

That particular file contain a BINTABLE extension holding the spectra, however the default SPLOT and friends don't know how to read tables. There is a new exernal package called SPTABLE that contains a modified version of the tools that can read the spectrum (provided you set the package parameter xonedspec.tbextn='sci' first). Alternatively you could use the TDUMP or TPRINT tasks in the NTTOOLS package to dump the table to text and then read it back into an image SPLOT would understand using RSPECTEXT.
