Hi,
I need to install and run 32bit IRAF in a 64bit Ubuntu 16.04 LTS machine. So I have installed following the steps provided at http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~khan/iraf/iraf_step_by_step_installation. Initially iraf would not start so I used this workaround https://iraf.net/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=1469447 . Now typing cl iraf starts. I want to use the ellipse task in stsdas but at the end it is giving me the error: ERROR: Cannot open connected subprocess (./x_isophote.e). Can anyone advise me any solution? Please help.

The message either means the package isn't installed and the binary doesn't exist, or the binary cannot be run. STSDAS is a 32-bit-only package and you may need to install 32-bit compatibility libraries in order to run the binaries. The first thing to do is check whether the binary exists on your system, then try to run it directly from the unix prompt (you'll see a '\$this->_split2($m[0])' prompt if it works, type 'bye' to quit). If the binaries on in a "bin.linux" directory you may need to move them to "bin.linux64" to match your system architecture.
