hi folks!

I'm embarrassed to ask, but is there a place I can retrieve some IRAF 2.14 external packages? The ones I'm interested in are:

tables
stsdas
ctio
fitsutil
mscred
mtools
rvsao

I was able to install as.pcix.gen, ib.ssol.x86, nb.ssol.x86 and the x11iraf-v2.0-BETA-bin.sunos.tar.gz.

Thanks!

jc

Sorry, but we don't have those binaries in the archive. The best you can do is to compile them locally. See the individual package readme files for specific details, package sources can be downloaded from ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/extern

Hi Mike!

Thanks for the quick reply!

I was about to try the fitsutil but I realized that I didn't run the install for the basic IRAF stuff yet, and when I tried, it said, looks like it didn't detect the /iraf/irafbin/bin.ssol path. is there something else I need to set. I tried setting the IRAFARCH to ssol but it didn't help.

Thanks!

JC

The correct architecture name should be 'sunos', try setting IRAFARCH to 'sunos' and create both 'bin.sunos' and 'noao.bin.sunos' directories in /iraf/irafbin then rerun the install script.

HI Mike!

I must have clicked submit or something, I was able to figure out that I should be using the name .sunos not ssol, got confused between the Distribution and Architecture from farting around with it.

so now I'm working on building mscred which I think needs stsdas as well.

thanks for the help!

hi Mike!

I've been trying a few more external package builds from ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/extern-v214

I'm having problems building:

CTIO which I originally tried compiling from the fitsutil-src.tar.gz

The errors are, there is no "lib" directory.

envinit: cannot open `/iraf/extern/ctio/lib/zzsetenv.def'
Warning, mkpkg line 0: cannot open `ctio$lib/mkpkg.inc'
Warning, mkpkg line 1: cannot open `mkpkg'

I tried installing ctio-bin.ssun.tar.Z, is that a Solaris 10 x86 package? There is one called ctio-bin.sparc.tar.Z, which is a different size.

MTOOLS - using mtools-bin.ssun.tar.gz but not sure it is the correct architecture.

RVSAO - installing from src, .... has some warning but I think it worked...

mkpkg -p rvsao update \$this->_split2($m[0])& rvsao.spool &

ERROR: Logical directory 'uparm$' not defined, cannot query

mkpkg -p rvsao
!mkpkg -p noao nrelink
check out file `librv.a = bin/librv.a'
warning: library `librv.a' not found
.
.
.
move `bin/librv.a' to `librv.a'
xc -Nz -p noao -z x_rvsao.o librv.a -lsmw -lxtools -lcurfit -liminterp -lllsq -o xx_rvsao.e
move `librv.a' to `bin/librv.a'
delete file x_rvsao.o

mkpkg -p rvsao update \$this->_split2($m[0])& rvsao.sunos &

ERROR: Logical directory 'uparm$' not defined, cannot query

NOTE: I think the lost reply was because I took too long and it needed me to authenticate again.

JC
