Hi all,
I am trying to run PWEIGHT and having some difficulties. My end goal is to use the PWEIGHT output in SPLICE and combine some overlapping STIS Echelle orders.
For my parameters I have:
PACKAGE = ctools
TASK = pweight
intable = input_x1d.fits tables containing spectra
outtable= weight.fits output tables
(wgt_nam= weight) weight column name
(verbose= yes) print file names?
(Version= 7July2000) date of installation
(mode = al)
I am getting an error:
IRAF error 1: Table `orefy2r16002o_pct.fits' does not exist or cannot be opened.
ERROR PCTAB `oref$y2r16002o_pct.fits' not found.
Am I missing a necessary header keyword? I am having trouble checking if this is the case because I get this error when I run INFOSTIS input_x1d.fits[1]:
ERROR (IRAF) 824: Illegal image type (extension) (input_x1d.fits[1][0])
Apologies if I am missing something simple. I am a student.
Also, I think that this is the best way to combine Echelle orders, but if there is a better way or task please let me know.
Thanks.

If you don't get a reply here (I'm not familiar with the task), you might also contact the STScI Help Desk (help@stsci.edu) since this is their task and they would be more knowledgable about the task and the data.
The complaint about a missing "orefy2r16002o_pct.fits" file means this is probably referenced somewhere in the file header but doesn't exist as a calibration file on your machine. The second message referencing "oref$y2r...." looks like an iraf logical path where 'oref' would be defined in your environment as a path and the "y2r16002o_pct.fits" part of the string is the filename. You might also review the installation instructions to see whether additional datafiles are required to use the task.
