Hi Mike,I just downloaded as.pcix.gen.gz from http://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/ftp/iraf/v215/PCIX/ and there are some binaries missing from the iraf$unix/bin* directories. The following files are contained in the iraf$unix/bin.redhat directory in the 2.14 version of as.pcix.gen.gz from http://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/ftp/iraf/v214/PCIX/[code:1:a8e95ba8e1]alloc.e f2c.h libf2c.a rmfiles.e sgi2uapl.e sgi2uimp.e sgidispatch.e xyacc.e
f2c.1 generic.e libos.a rpp.e sgi2ueps.e sgi2uptx.e wtar.e
f2c.1.gz libboot.a mkpkg.e rtar.e sgi2uhpgl.e sgi2uqms.e xc.e
f2c.e libcompat.a rmbin.e sgi2gif.e sgi2uhplj.e sgi2xbm.e xpp.e[/code:1:a8e95ba8e1]However, in the iraf$unix/bin.redhat directory in the 2.15 version of as.pcix.gen.gz I have[code:1:a8e95ba8e1]f2c.1 f2c.1.gz f2c.e f2c.h iraf.h libf2c.a mach.h[/code:1:a8e95ba8e1]So I download iraf-linux.tar.gz just to check ... the following files are contained in the iraf$unix/bin.redhat directory[code:1:a8e95ba8e1]alloc.e f2c.h libf2c.a rmbin.e sgi2gif.e sgi2uhpgl.e sgi2uqms.e xc.e
f2c.1 generic.e libos.a rmfiles.e sgi2svg.e sgi2uhplj.e sgi2xbm.e xpp.e
f2c.1.gz iraf.h mach.h rpp.e sgi2uapl.e sgi2uimp.e sgidispatch.e xyacc.e
f2c.e libboot.a mkpkg.e rtar.e sgi2ueps.e sgi2uptx.e wtar.e[/code:1:a8e95ba8e1]which looks a lot better ... I guess I'm the only one who has tried to install iraf v2.15 the old fashioned way WinkJust thought I'd let you know ...Emma Smile

Hi Emma,Thanks for the heads up, but the distribution is as intended. The AS file is meant to be All-Source, but in the past it included the HSI binaries and was simply Part 1 of an unnecessary three-part file install. The idea now is that it really is the bare minimum source, since there is now also a toplevel makefile that allows a full sysgen to be done easily with a 'make' command. In the next release the F2C binaries will also be part of the sysgen build and won't need to be distributed within AS either. Most users still appear to be downloading the one-file "iraf-<arch>.tar.gz" files and I can see where the AS/IB/NB files will eventually fade away entirely.Cheers,
-Mike
