Hey All,I had another machine go down so have upgraded it to Fedora14 (32-bit) and have been trying to install Iraf v215.1 for the past week, but keep getting the following when I run a test install:========================================================================
========================= Begin Installation =========================
======================================================================== Editing Paths
-------------
Editing the iraf user .login/.cshrc paths ... [ OK ]
Editing iraf/imdir paths into system files ... [ OK ] Checking File Permissions
-------------------------
Checking iraf file permissions ... foreach: No match.
I have looked at the other posts and downloaded and installed the proper binary files into each folder and double checked the IRAFARCH, but I still cannot get past this point for this installation.Any suggestions?Thank you for your help.

The message typically means that files in the $hlib or $iraf/unix/bin.<arch> directory are missing from the distribution or can't be found because of an incorrect environment variable setting. For 32-bit Fedora your IRAFARCH should be 'linux' and your $iraf/unix/bin.linux directory should contain the files being checked for.If you tell me which distribution file you used I can verify whether they are correct, otherwise you can get ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/ftp/v215/PCIX/hs.pcix.gen.gz and unpack in $iraf/unix if you find files are missing.

Hi Mike,I was using the as.pcix.gen.gz distribution from the ftp site for v215. I unpacked the hs.pcix.gen.gz file in $iraf/unix like you recommended and everything is running now.After my initial unpacking of the as.pcix.gen.gz file, the following were the only files contained in the $iraf/unix/bin.linux directory:f2c.1
f2c.1.gz
f2c.e
f2c.h
iraf.h
libf2c.a
mach.hThank you for your assistance and suggestion!Cheers!

That explains it then. Since there is now a one-file distribution that includes the binaries, the older AS distribution is just sources and meant for people who want to build entirely from source.

Hi,
I am installing on a Mac, running 10.6.7. I had the same error of "foreach: No match" but after unpacking the hs.pcix.gen.gz files in $iraf/unix I still get the same error and only have the same list of files that JR originally had. I was wondering if there are additional suggestions to work around this problem. What additional files should I be seeing in my $iraf/unix/bin.macintel directory?Thanks!
Karen

The hs.pcix.gen.gz file should be unpacked in $iraf, not $iraf/unix. If I'm right, you now have a $iraf/unix/unix directory on your machine.[/quote]

Yep, I do have a unix/unix. I guess I misunderstood the directions in the post. Thanks for clarifying. It worked just fine now.Karen
