Hello,It looks like the V2.15 version does not require the creation of an iraf user (according to the relase notes/install). Is this correct? You simply unpack iraf.macx.uni into /iraf/iraf and run the install script (run as root). This as been done (including the make ctio mscred stsdas fitsutil). However, when cl is run, there are not help databases available at all.ex:
ecl> help ctioor
ecl> help rfitsThe error is:
ERROR: .... ... .... invalid database filesPlease let me know. I've installed this twice and still have the same errors.-Rob

Do the "..." parts of the error messages name specific help database files? I don't have access to a similar machine but the help databases are supposed to be machine independent. One way to see whether it is a problem in the task, or an individual helpdb.mip is with e.g.[code:1:2daa5edf83]ecl> help rfits helpdb="lib$helpdb.mip"[/code:1:2daa5edf83]This will search just the core system helpdb file and if it works means the task is okay. You can then try the same thing with each package that was listed in the error message, e.g.[code:1:2daa5edf83]ecl> help ellipse helpdb="stsdas$lib/helpdb.mip"[/code:1:2daa5edf83]If that fails you can rebuild the helpdb using the MKHELPDB task in the SOFTOOLS package. For packages we maintain the helpdb.mip files should have been rebuilt for v2.15, we might have missed one and at least the one for STSDAS is unmodified.Lastly, strictly speaking, an iraf user account was [b:2daa5edf83]never[/b:2daa5edf83] actually [i:2daa5edf83]required[/i:2daa5edf83]
