XGterm/Xterm and XImtool/DS9 all take a '-geometry' flag that can be used to position a window on the screen. If you want to position the plot window of an XGterm you can use the '-G' flag or the '%<geom>' option (e.g. "xgterm %320x640+100+100").

The situtation is like this:I am in IRAF (ecl), I do
[code:1:fe82b2af71]display img 1
imexam img 1
[/code:1:fe82b2af71]
and the plot window appears in an uncontrolled position.
Then I do
[code:1:fe82b2af71]gkimos archive
[/code:1:fe82b2af71]
and the plot winodw appears also in an uncontrolled position.I would like to set fixed the plot window position for both cases in a controlled way, as
[code:1:fe82b2af71]!xgterm -geometry +0+300
[/code:1:fe82b2af71]
Thank you for any help.PS
setting geometry in imexam.graphics="xgterm -geometry..." does not help.

Try starting the XGterm with either[code:1:15f40745d4]
xgterm -G +0+300 or xgterm %+0+300
[/code:1:15f40745d4]IRAF has no way to control the window positioning, this is all done in how you start the graphics/display applications (i.e. the xgterm or the ximtool window) outside of IRAF and before you login to the CL.
