iraf.net

Hi,
I'm having trouble installing the fitsutil package and compiling the executables. My system is macintel.
Being logged on as an IRAF user, I put the fitsutil source in /iraf/iraf/extern/fitsutil and also editted the extern.pkg file 
but the following steps of mkpkg etc. are not working. 
I am installing it for personal use on my laptop, but I have created an IRAS user account and have installed iraf there. 
my iraf user account is in /Users/iraf
and iraf packages are in /iraf/iraf/
any help will be greatly appreciated.
