I'm just getting started with IRAF. As I understand it, Win users must install Cygwin, correct? Where can I find a current introductory tutorial for IRAF? Does it cover pyraf? When I tried to search the Application Forum for cygwin using Forum Search it failed. I see cygwin in the subject of several posts. What is it really searching? Body? Is there an archive of past posts?l

These are old but still helpful, you can also Google 'iraf tutorial' and find quite a bit of material. None of this covers PyRAF however, you'll have to see their documentation site for materials.

[/quote:3726ea20f6]The keyword-search table in the database was corrupted and is currently in the long process of rebuilding itself. Once completed, the entire archive of ~80,000 messages from the last 20+ years will again be searchable. Thanks for pointing this out.-Mike
