Hi, Mike et al---OK, we are having a wacky problem. Deidre and I installed iraf and X11 (via scisoft, I confess) and everything is working fine EXCEPT that the xgterm is not picking up the app-defaults. So, I downloaded the binary distribution and followed the instructions including the mv app-defaults/* /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults. At least on Leopard there IS no /usr/lib/X11, and so I had to create one, as well as the subdirectory app-defaults.But, the /usr/lib/xgterm doesn't pick up those app-defaults either.Suggestions?thanks,

Hi Phil,I think under Leopard the directory is now /usr/X11/lib/X11/app-defaults and not just /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults.I only recently got a second Mac to support Leopard but with travel, haven't had a chance yet to upgrade/configure a machine. In any event, your XFILESEARCHPATH environment variable should still be able to use non-standard locations, e.g.[code:1:0d4d64b6e9]setenv XFILESEARCHPATH ":/usr/lib/X11/%T/%N%S:/usr/x11R6/lib/X11/%T/%N%S:/usr/local/lib/%T/%N%S:"[/code:1:0d4d64b6e9]-Mike

Mike,Moving the app-defaults to /usr/X11/lib/X11/app-defaults indeed solved the
