I have been converting dat files into fits files. In the dat files I have two columns, flux and wavelength. The wavelength is in microns. I am able to successfully convert dat into fits but when I use splot, the wavelength label in the x-axis shows it as angstroms.Changing "units" in splot to microns did not help. For example, we have 1.328 microns but it shows up as 1.328E-3 microns on the plot. Please let me know how I could change the wavelength label but nothing else.

Without any other information the spectrum tasks assume Angstroms. I guess you are using RSPECTEXT to convert your data files to spectrum image files? In this case add the following[code]
hedit <images> CUNIT1 micron add+
[\code]No SPLOT will either show you "Wavelength (microns)" after which you can change units with ":units" or it may show you in Angstroms because the task parameters are set to specify the desired display units. If this doesn't help you please post a header listing of one of your converted images.Yours,
