Anyone know of parallel operating systems designed to work with multiple PC processors?

Any recent linux can do this, just be sure to install the SMP (symmetric multi-processing) version of the kernel.

I have Intel Pentium IV 915. But IRAF used only single CPU's kernel.
What need to do for IRAF use both CPU's kernels?
Linux kernel has compiled with SMP support. Many applications use both CPU's kernels, but IRAF only single...
Thanks!

IRAF processes are not multi-threaded, however the system itself is inherently multi-process. This means that e.g. CCDPROC can't parallelize the processing of a single image, but you can run two instances of CCDPROC to process two images simultaneously. Simply starting the CL means the CL, the x_system.e binary and usually some other binary are all running at the same time, the system will assign these to use the CPUs as needed but rarely will you occupy 100% of both CPUs without running mutiple iraf sessions.-Mike
