Dear sir
I m a Ph.D student working in optical astronomy.Recently i installed IRAF in my machine.Although I installed all the packages of Iraf(both internal and one external package stsdas).whenver I go to Iraf by entering cl in xgterm i find only the internal packages and not the external one which also i installed(i.e stsdas).It may be that i am wrongly installing the packages. Can u plz send me a log file of instructiions for installing IRAF in my Linux machine.

External packages become visible once they are defined in the hlib$extern.pkg file (i.e. $iraf/unix/hlib/extern.pkg). One requirement is that the 'keep' statement is the last line of that file and that package directories end in a trailing '/'. If you defined a package in a login.cl or loginuser.cl file it may still be available, it just won't be visible in the main CL package menu.
