Hi IRAF Gurus,I have a question about the ttools package in IRAF.I created a binary table using "tcreate" and "tedit"
on a Sun workstation running Solaris, named Indy. The
ttools package works without a hitch. The IRAF distribution
is the EXPORT version of Sun/IRAF V2.11 for SunOS 4 and Solaris 2.7.I transferred the table to a PC, named Sasanami, running
linux. It is running the EXPORT version of PC-IRAF V2.12.
(The file does not appear to be corrupted in any way; and
I tried the transfer with ssh, and with sftp with explicit
"binary."The version of IRAF that's running on Sasanami cannot read
tables created with IRAF on Indy - see error message below.
Can you tell what's wrong? The ".tab" files are binary tables described in the notes on
the IRAF project webpage. Thanks,
Crystal

TABLES .tab files are machine dependent and so are byte-swapped in this case. You can try the REBLOCK task to swap bytes on the file but in most cases you'll need to recreate the table.Cheers,
