Hi Mike,I'm afraid neither of these options worked Frown I'm still getting the same

You can get a newer binary from ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/fitz/x11iraf-v1.3.2-bin.redhat.tar.gzThese are Redhat binaries but should work on your system. If not, then
try using a hacked source distribution at ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/fitz/x11iraf-new_gcc.tgzYou can compile from source using the commands % xmkmf
% make WorldHope this helps, let us know if you still have problems.Cheers,

I get the following error:Warning: cannot open /dev/imt1o/tmp/_gui.cmds.7541: line 1: 7544 Segmentation fault ximtool -gui

first, and just had to change my vncviewer command slightly so that it
still ran with 8 bit Pseudo color. Do you know if there's a problem with
running ximtool-alt on Scientific Linux? Please help. Many thanks,Emma Smile**************************************************************************** Emma Hogan, room : F19b

I missed this last warning message in your original mail. The
segvio is being caused by the missing fifo pipes on the machine. These
should be created by the IRAF install script but in the meantime you can
work around it using % ximtool-alt -unix_onlyso it won't look for the fifos, or else simply create them. This is on
the growing list of things to fix for ximtool, let me know if that doesn't
fix it.Cheers,
-Mike

Hi Mike,The -unix_only tag works fine, thank you! If the x11iraf package was
re-installed, would that solve the problem? I never had this problem using
redhat...Thanks again,Emma SmileOn Thu, 8 Dec 2005, Mike Fitzpatrick wrote:

No, the bug is still present in the current code. You can create the
pipes as root using the commands mkfifo /dev/imt1o /dev/imt1o
chmod 666 /dev/imt1o /dev/imt1ior to make a permanent personal change you can either set the 'input_fifo'
resource to be 'none' or simply alias the command to use the -unix_only
flag.Cheers,
-Mike
