Hi John,
The "xc: command not found" may indicate that the install script
wasn't run on this machine or simply that the place where you put the
local commands like 'xc' isn't in your path (the one defined in your
.cshrc and not .login). Rebuilding the system might well fix the ctype_b
problem but is the hard way to do it and I'd expect several other problems
that would need code changes to make this work. How did you try to link in the libcompat.a? The missing symbol
is certainly defined here and adding $iraf/unix/bin.redhat/libcompat.a
should have picked it up and has worked for DAOPHOT in the past (I assume
this is the Stetson code?) It may be quickest to try to fix this problem
than the iraf rebuild so if you still have questions send me the makefile.
The libcompat.a is the same for redhat/linux/suse architectures, be sure
to either include it specifically in the imfort library list or using a
"-L/<path>/iraf/unix/bin.redhat -lcompat" flags.
