Dear Sir/Madam,
I am using currently using NOAO PC-IRAF Revision 2.12.2-EXPORT and the
"noao>imred>kpnoslit" package. I faced a problem when doing data reduction of
spectra. I just want to know where I can find the linelists of Mercury lamp, as
I took Hg lamp frames and I want to perform wavelength calibration on
scientific data. Under the "linelists$" folder, I can never find the dat file
for Hg lamp. Where I can find it or can I create it by myself?
Thanks for your help.

Dear Chuwing,The line lists distributed with IRAF are those in the linelists$
folder. If you don't find a suitable line list there you can create
your own. I agree with you that there is no Hg list in the linelist$
directory for you to use. In the simplest case just make a text file
with a single list of wavelengths (in increasing order) in your
working directory or your home directory. Then for the parameter
that sets the line list just put the name of the file
such as home$myhglist.dat. You might search the web for a list of Hg
calibration lines.Yours,
Frank Valdes
