iraf v2.17
ds9 8.3
Ctrl D is working in general but while Im trying to select (I set the cursor above my object and click 'r' ) my reference objects and main object on ds9 this operation is not working, so Im not able to save or finish the task or anything. What could it be?

A cursor read is initiated in a task but the interaction with your keystrokes is in DS9 itself and then returned to the task. So, it's DS9 that isn't recognizing the Ctrl-D as the EOF. You didn't say what type of system this is so it's possible a linux window manager or your Mac system has the Ctrl-D key remapped in some way. To eliminate a problem in the task itself (which one is it?) you can simply use the RIMCURSOR task in the CL to read the image cursor and print the values, if the Ctrl-D is printed as something like "04" instead of terminating the read then the EOF has been remapped somewhere on your system. Hope this helps.
