This (24-bit XImtool) is my personal preference and the one I believe is most overdue. Please submit your own ideas, it would be even better if you also volunteered to work on them! Note that a Cygwin port does exist in the wild courtesy of Chris Burke at Ohio (just Google "iraf cygwin" to find it), what is meant by the poll option is an "officially supported" port of the latest version.
