I upgraded my installation (MacOS 10.5.3) to version 2.14 yesterday. The ccdred package is not listed as an installed package at login and I cannot run any of the ccdred package tasks such as flatcombine and ccdproc yet when I type 'help flatcombine' the help files are present. Is it possible that I did something wrong during the installation or is it necessary to install the ccdred packages separately.
PS. I deleted the source code at the completion of the installation script if this makes any difference.
Did you load the IMRED package first? What exactly is the error message?
A "task 'ccdred' not found" would mean the IMRED package isn't loaded (perhaps in the old version you did this automatically in your login.cl?), but a "cannot open connected subprocess" might mean there was an error in the installation (e.g. not all of the binaries were unpacked, or the NOAO binaries were unpacked in the wrong place).

It might, how did you delete the source (using "mkpkg strip" is the preferred method)? Note that a skeleton of the system is still required in order to find things like parameter files, online help, etc.

Fitz,
Your response helped me figure it out. I needed to run imred before I could run ccdred. Of course no where in the help pages or Phil Massey's paper is this critical piece of information mentioned.
