Hi

I recently switched to Mac Intel and I am trying to use the last gemini v19 package. I need to compile the source but there is a lot of errors. I think this because my laptop is brand new and I am not sure there is compiler in it. I would like to ask what is the compiler I need to install and where I can find it ?
I installed IRAF v14 throught the scisoft package.
I would also like to ask about a strange think, I can not create a login.cl with mkiraf. NOthing happen when I use it.

Thanks

henri

First, I've put the Gemini v1.9.1 macintel binaries in the external package download area of this site in case you continue to have problems. The only compiler required is GCC which should be on the OSX DVD (under 'XCode' or 'Development Tools' or somesuch). I'd have to see the error messages to know whether that's the problem you're having; another common error is that the package hasn't been defined in the hlib$extern.pkg file, and/or you didn't compile with 'mkpkg -p gemini' to set the environment.

I'm assuming the SciSoft version includes the Jan 14 critical update, but you should double-check by looking at the files dates in the iraf$bin.macintel directory. If these binaries are from December, then you should be sure to install the patched binaries from this site. As for the mkiraf problem: If you get a 'command not found' error then the problem is that the command isnt' in a directory defined in your $path. I think SciSoft has some sort of setup script that's required to be run first, do you simply get the command prompt back or do you see the 'terminal type' prompt?

Hope this helps,
-Mike
