You'll need to do a complete install of the system (i.e. the AB, IB, and NB files) and for external packages you will always need the source even if you install prebuilt binaries (i.e. so you have parameter files, help pages, etc).
Yes sure, but actually I'm referring to the actual CYGWIN installation, not the IRAF one (with my current installation I get compilation errors from CTIO and GEMINI, the main IRAF installation works of course, usin the cygwin port).
You didn't post specific error messages but it is possible they come about either by not having the proper environment defined (i.e. $iraf and $IRAFARCH) or perhaps a missing package dependency (e.g. GEMINI requires FITSUTIL). Note the mkpkg file for the package needs to be modified to add cygwin as an architecture.
In any case, I was able to build these packages with no problem and have uploaded the binaries for CTIO/FITSUTIL/GEMINI to the distribution directory.
