Dear help;
I can't get ccdlist to recognize or report the 'ccdtype' aka 'imagetyp'
on fits images. I notice in F. Valdes' 'help page for mscguide'
paragraph 3.3 he states that the task is specialized and provides a
description of the name...processing flags of each image, and he doesn't
refer to the imagetyp. But in the example just below that he gives the
example:

ms> ccdlist *.fits extname=im1 ccdtype=object

which implies that the command should be able to recognize the
'ccdtype'. But I can't get it to work. Should the command work for
'ccdtype' and if so does that header keyword have to be in im0, or im1,
or im2, or all the extensions? And should I have to hedit the headers to
get that keyword in? Thanks for your help.

Hi,

The ccdtype parameter maps through the instrument translation file, specified by the parameter "mscred.instrument", to a keyword. The translation file also provides the mapping between the keyword values and the list of types understood by ccdlist. Note that in the absence of a translation file the task uses certain defaults which may not be appropriate for your data.

If you send me a header listing I can tell you what you need.

Yours,
Frank
