Hi Mike,

Thanks for your helpful reply to my ECL comments some time ago. I was
holding off acknowledging your email until I'd looked into the INPUTRC
stuff some more, but I never seem to get the necessary 10min...

Anyway, I had one more suggestion - it would be very convenient if the
final ECL release can be made to support "~" syntax for home$ like the
unix shell. Maybe it's already on your list...

Cheers,

James.

HI James,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a little worried about overloading
the '~' though since most people will be familiar with it as being the
user login directory. Having it refer to the iraf login directory makes
sense in the CL context but this is a new behavior that might cause more
confusion than it is worth. I'll think about it some more to see if I
can come up with some sort of compromise.

Cheers,
-Mike

Actually, the user login directory was what I *meant* to suggest be
abbreviated as ~ (so it behaves like the shell), rather than home$.
Sorry for the confusion.

Cheers,

James.
