Hi,
I have two macbook pro's where I have installed IRAF via scisoft.
both seem to be working just fine imexam, ccmap and a number of other tasks were tested. However I just noticed that for some reasoon wregister gives the following error in both :
Coordinate list: imxymatch4252h.1 Transform: B_NGC6800_10sec_026a.fits
Results file:
Coordinate mapping status
ERROR: floating point overflow
"cursor=gcommands)"
line 120: immatch$wregister.cl
called as: `wregister (mode=h)'
I tested the same setup (same files same parameters etc.) in a Fedora 16 linux computer and the wregister works just fine.
can anyone suggest anything about why do I see this and how can I overcome this problem.
The error appears to be coming from the GEOMAP task used in the WREGISTER script, but there are no known issues with the task at the moment and if your Fedora 16 system is 32-bit then this may point to a 64-bit platform problem (macintel).
Could you upload your parameters and data file to the anonftp at ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub so we can try to reproduce the problem?
I uploaded a tar file called wregister.tar.gz. It includes two images (one reference and the other I wanted to align). also the uparm and login.cl files.
And yes I checked one more time to make sure and my Fedora is indeed 32 bit.
I wasn't able to reproduce the problem with the most recent development version of IRAF v2.16, but could confirm it in the SciSoft release (March2012) and that it is also fixed in the most recent May2012 update to the system. To fix it on your machine, all you should need to do is
Code:
% cd /usr/local/scisoft/packages/iraf/iraf/
% make latest
This should update your IRAF scisoft installation with the May2012 release and fix the problem. If not, let me know.
