Hi,

I think I have everything correctly installed, but there's obviouslt some problem I'm missing.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 + KDE and here's what I do:

1- Open 'xterm'
2- Load IRAF
3- Load DS9 with: !ds9 &
4- Display an image in frame 1
5- Run 'imexamine' on that frame
6- Mouse cursor starts blinking
7- Imexamine works fine for everything that doesn't involve plotting. Commands like 'r', 'c', 'l' will just write gibberish to the xterm window while 'a' and 'm' display the correct information.

What should I check? Maybe some issue with X11?

Thanks!

Be sure your terminal type isn't set to 'xgterm' if you are in fact using an 'xterm' window. Use the command

Code:
cl> stty xtermjh

to reset the terminal type, edit your login.cl file manually, or else do a new MKIRAF to reset the terminal type.

The XGterm binary is a separate installation in the X11IRAF tools from

ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/x11iraf/

Be sure to get the x11iraf-v2.0BETA-bin.<arch>.tar.gz appropriate for your machine.

That worked, I had 'stty xgterm' in my 'login.cl' file so I just changed it.

Thank you very much fitz!
