I've been trying to calibrate my extracted and cleaned spectra by using the apall command given in the following line but it has been giving me the error quoted below. Could you please tell me what the problem is and what I should do to correct it. I know that it might be due to the aperture database not being read. What procedure should I follow to correct that?

kp>apall HeNeAr.fits out=henearcomp.fits ref=image.ms.fits recen- trace- back- intera-

and I always get

WARNING: Reference image (v691cra.ms.cor) apertures not found

Thanks,

Charith

Hi, I'm sorry for the late reply. Have you resolved this? This does look mysterious. If this is still happening could you send the result of

Code:
lpar apall apall1

Hi, No problem. Solved it. It's quite a silly error actually. I am newbie to IRAF so I guess it's justified a little. I was trying to file everything one step at a time so that I could easily go back to the files in the previous step. When copying over the image files to run apall I had completely forgotten to copy the database folder which contains all the aperture information. Hence the error "apertures not found". I'm done with that now.

Hi,
This might be weird but I am getting the "opposite" problem of what's mentioned above!!

At first I had the same problem (as mentioned in this thread) so I started trying other reference stars... at some point it worked and I got excited, but when I doubled checked it turned out that the there is no such star with that name!! So I started putting random words for the "reference", and iraf doesn't give me error message... only when I use an actual star for reference I get the error, which is completely the apposite of one would expect!!

I don't know what's happening!! Any idea??
